TUG 5 YEAR PROJECTION FOR TEB IMPROVEMENTS
ITEMS PRIORITIZED BY LEVEL OF IMPORTANCE AND TIMING
ACTIVATE RUNWAY 19 CENTERLINE LIGHTING.
The lights are installed but due to the non compliance for a displaced threshold they cannot be activated. TUG will submit a request for a waiver of the 750 standard.
TAXIWAY/RUNWAY INTERSECTION HOT SPOT DESIGNATION AND THE INSTALLATION OF WIG WAG LIGHTS FOR WARNING.
Teterboro is on the top ten hit list for runway incursions. TUG is in the process of posting, at each FBO an enlarged airport diagram showing the designated hot spots. The Jeppeson airport diagram indicates the hot spots in red font and red circles.
VASI INSTALLATION FOR RUNWAY 06 AND RUNWAY 19.
VASI installation on these runways will be a big improvement for the flight crews and will aid the noise abatement program.
UPGRADE RUNWAY 06 APPROACH LIGHTING SYSTEM TO HIRLS.
When runway 06 was lengthened years ago the approach light configuration was shortened to less than standard. TUG is pursuing this project for airport improvement and safety.
INSTALL APPROACH LIGHT SYSTEM ON RUNWAY 19 (INCLUDE LEAD IN LIGHTS).
This project would enhance low visibility approaches. The Lead in Lights would assist the flight crews and enhance noise abatement in critical areas.
INSTALL LLWS SYSTEM FOR ALL RUNWAYS.
Teterboro was included in the New York Metro Plan for weather and wind shear. TUG will look into the current status of the initiative.
INSTALL RVR EQUIPMENT FOR MID POINT AND ROLLOUT ON RUNWAY 06.
Currently only the touchdown point RVR is installed. Installation of the additional points is being investigated for equipment and funding.
REPLACE TAXI WAY EDGE REFLECTORS WITH A BLUE TAXIWAY LIGHT INSTALLATION.
The lack of adequate guidance on the taxiways is part of the incursion problem and is being pursued. Airport management has stated that as airport construction is accomplished; all taxiway lighting and configuration will be up dated.
UPGRADE RUNWAY 06 TO CAT II STATUS.
Many of the priority items are necessary for CAT II certification. When the timing for implementation comes TUG wants TEB to be ready.
INSTALLATION OF A GPS CORRECTION STATION.
As GPS RNAV procedures become more prevalent, accuracy for terminal and approach separation standards will increase. A correction station will be essential to meet the requirements
INSTALLATION OF NEW CONTROL TOWER.
Requirement for a new tower for Teterboro has been validated by the FAA. Funding is not available at this time. TUG and PANYNJ are looking for alternate means for funding.
CONVERT AIRSPACE AROUND TEB TO CLASS B STATUS.
This suggestion was made due to the numerous TCAS advisories received by aircraft on the VOR/DME approach. Other aircraft are transiting the TEB traffic area just under the approach altitudes.
COMPLETE MODIFICATION TO SECOND CUSTOMS FACILITY.
Skip Keeler is investigating completion of the second Customs Facility. It appears that the present security level is having an impact on US Customs procedures. Stay tuned.
EXPLORE HELICOPTER ROUTES TO MINIMIZE CONFLICT WITH FIXED WING AIRCRAFT.
This item is self explanatory. Helicopter operators are asked to comment and advise TUG with their suggestions.
